Robe 1912

I've continued to work on my 1912 dress yesterday.  I've sewn the skirt and the bodice. For now it's a 100% sewn by hand project, I don't plan to use the machine. I wanted to watch a series while sewing, so.. 100% by hand.

The sari was worse than I first thought! SO MANY stains now that I see it with the day light! like coffee stains. Everywhere. Once again, I hope that the Opera light will help. I don't even speak about the shape the fabric has at many places. As if it was deformed because of a coat rack you see?. In the end, even the piece of the skirt is not centered since it was impossible to have a clean and symetrical piece here. Many stains are hidden by the overskirt layers ^^' I wanted to embroid new sequins on the stains but it would have been easier to notice that something is wrong haha!

At the moment, the sari pieces, the pink chiffon and the belt are only drapped on my dummy. I hope that I'll be able to make something correct (lol) since I really feel bad with this project!

Concerning the regency stays, I still need to embroid the eyelets, and maybe add a new gusset at each side because I feel a bit pressed... It's not the shape I'd like. Breasts look more like they are putted down the stays more than pressed.

  1. Oh my! Your dress is so lovely! I love the color combination you have chosen as well as the different textures that are represented! I cannot see any stains anywhere! I can't wait to see this dress on you! I hope you have a delightful time at the opera!

    Blessings!
